THE WINES

MERLOT

The grapes from Mountanos Vineyards brought lush Merlo briar into this wine. A classic Merlot perfume greets a nose at the glass and the taste remains true.

The underlying acid is reserved as are the oak tannins. Fermentation was conducted in open-top redwood tanks of 1500 gallons. The must was punched down four to six times a day and subsequently aged in French Oak (20% new barrels) for eighteen months. The wine is unfined and coarse filtered.

Our Merlot was honored as "The Best New World Merlot" of The New World Wine Competition, 1998.
