GIELOW

Soils: Pinole sandy loam and Yolo gravelly loam

Pinole Series:

The Pinole series consists of deep, well drained soils in the form of alluvial fans which have weathered from sedimentary and other rock sources. Pinole soils are most commonly found on terraces with slopes of 0 to 30 percent. This series is well drained with slow to rapid runoff and moderately slow permeability. Natural vegetation includes annual grasses, manzanita, madrone, live oak, white oak, black oak, poison-oak and ponderosa pine.

Yolo Series:

The Yolo series consists of well drained soils located on alluvial fans with slopes ranging from 0 to 5 percent. These soils formed from recent alluvium deposits from near by drainages and have an effective rooting depth of 60 inches or greater. Permeability is moderate with an available water holding capacity of 10 to 12 inches.
